Properly cleaning and maintaining your carpet will keep it looking fresh for years!
1. Vacuum Often - Make sure you are vacuuming high-traffic areas at least 2x a week; other areas can be done less frequently. Your vacuum height should be set to where you can feel a slight push forward when vacuuming. Slow passes work best to suck up dirt and debris.
2. Clean up spills immediately! Most spills can be cleaned up with just water. Press a dry cloth into the spill to absorb any excess spillage. Repeat until absorbed, then gently work a damp towel/cloth onto the spill until it is gone. For stubborn spots, you can use a carpet spot cleaner (or vinegar and water) to help break up any stains. Blot, don’t rub or scrub. Scrubbing can damage the carpet fibers.
3. Use rugs and mats - Using a rug or mat in high-traffic areas will help protect your carpet from wear and tear. It is also recommended to use a pad under the rug/mat to not further damage the area.
4. Keep shoes off your carpet - Shoes can bring in dirt, debris, and mud that can damage the carpet fibers and cause discoloration.
5. Hire expert carpet cleaners! Professional carpet cleaners have the expertise and equipment to do a deep clean of your carpet(s). The specialized cleaning solutions will help make your carpets look new and smell great!
